For the mamas who are tired of explaining themselves
The Defiant Joy Collective is a private, application-only community for medical moms and special needs parents. Built by one. For all of us.
You're in the right place if...
You googled the diagnosis at 2am. You joined the Facebook group. You posted once, got three generic replies, and quietly left.
You tried explaining it to your mom, your sister, your best friend. They tried. They really did. But you could see it in their eyes. They didn't quite get it.
And every single time you had to start from the beginning — re-explaining, re-establishing context, translating your whole life before the conversation could even START — something in you just... dimmed a little.
That cost has a name. It's called the Explanation Tax. And you've been paying it every single day.

You were never supposed to do this alone. But the rooms you found weren't built for you. This one is.
What is the Defiant Joy Collective?
The DJC is not a course. It's not a support group. It's not another place where you perform being okay.
It's the first community built specifically around the lived experience of medical moms and special needs parents — where every single member was let in on purpose, every conversation starts where you actually are, and the person leading it has sat in the same hospital waiting rooms you have.
You walk in already understood. The Explanation Tax? Permanently waived.

Who built this room
I'm a mama of two girls. One of them — Camilla — was born with a rare SF3B2 gene deletion. The only known case in the world.
We've navigated 15 specialists. Surgeries. Feeding tubes. Hospital stays. Therapy schedules that run our lives. A diagnosis that has no roadmap, no Facebook group with 50,000 members, and no doctor who's seen it before.
I know what it costs to explain your child's life before a single real conversation can happen. I know what it's like to be in the room and still feel alone. I know what it's like to LOVE your life — the hard and beautiful parts of it — and not have a single space where that's the whole story, not just the highlight reel.
So I built one. The Defiant Joy Collective is for you, babe. All of it. The hard days and the sunshine ones.
What you get inside the DJC
Your first 48 hours are designed to feel different from every room you've walked into before. No homework. No performance. You post your name, one thing that made you smile, and you're home.
A growing library of frameworks, audio tools, and practices built around one thing: choosing joy without skipping the hard parts. Inchstones over milestones. Mom Cup Days. Defiant Joy in real life.
The exact language, questions, and tools for walking into every specialist appointment steadier and more equipped than you walked in. Built from real appointments. Not a template. A real system.
A module for the seasons when your faith is being tested. No toxic positivity. No pretending it doesn't hurt. Just honest, grounded faith content for the moms who know God is in this and ALSO that it's really hard.
A live weekly session with me — every Friday. You submit questions anytime during the week. I show up and we talk. Real, no script. Replays are always available. Come when you can. Nothing is ever missed.
Monthly personal updates on Camilla's journey — the real version, not the Instagram version. Therapy wins. Hard weeks. Inchstones worth celebrating. This is the inside track for the people walking the same road.

What the community is already saying
"Seeing y'all figure it out helps me remember — I too can figure it out. It's never going to be 100% easy, and that's okay."
— Community follower, California
"It's wholesome, real, heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time. I love that you acknowledge all of those things while also sharing Christ."
— Lilly B.
"You are so important Leah. Not just for Camilla. To show the world what matters."
— Daphne D.
These are unprompted DMs and comments from Leah's Instagram community. The DJC is the room these women have been describing without knowing it existed.
This is NOT a business community. There are no income goals here. No side hustle content. No productivity frameworks.
This is NOT therapy. We do not replace your care team. This is peer accompaniment from moms who actually get it.
This is NOT a fire hose of content. The classroom is intentional, sequenced, and designed to meet you wherever you are, not overwhelm you.
This is NOT open to everyone. The DJC is application-gated. Every member was let in on purpose. That's what makes it safe.
If you are a medical mom or special needs parent who is done carrying this alone — you belong here. That's the whole criteria.
This is Camilla. She is a firecracker. A self-motivated powerhouse with zero quit in her body. She loves Post Malone. She is learning to use her communication device. She has never once let a hard day define her.
She has SF3B2 gene deletion — the only known case in the world. We have no roadmap. No community of 10,000 people who have been here before.
But we have each other. The Defiant Joy Collective was built because of her, and for every mama navigating a road that looks a little bit like mine. She is the sunshine. This is the room we're building in her honor.

The Founding 50
The DJC opens with a founding member pricing structure. The first 50 members to join get the founding rate — locked in permanently. It never goes up for you.
After the first 50 spots are filled, the price increases. After the first 100, it goes up again.
The waitlist is how you get notified the moment applications open. You don't have to do anything else. Just get on the list.

There is a room where no one asks you to explain first. Where your child is known by name. Where defiant joy isn't a toxic positivity slogan — it's a daily practice, done honestly, with people who actually get it.
You're not too much for this room. You're exactly who it was built for.
Application-only community. Founding spots are limited. No spam, ever. Just the notification when doors open.
